By the way, here's another good read. This is from the State of California's Dept of Education: a sample of that high-school exit exam that's raised so much controversy over the last week. Or in case you haven't been following it, people are distraught over the fact that only about half of all 9th graders can get a 60% score on this. (And in some schools it's a total wipe-out as one might expect.) Anyway, check out the first half of this test. It's supposedly reading comprehension, but I believe that the answers to 15 out of the 16 questions are obvious even without reading the selections (you just have to read the title and the short introductory blurb above it). Get to know your future students ;-) |
