11th IEEE Computer Security Foundations Workshop
June 9-11, 1998
Rockport, Massachusetts, USA
Sponsored by the Technical Committee on Security and Privacy
of the IEEE Computer Society

This workshop series brings together researchers in computer science to examine foundational issues in computer security. We are interested both in papers that describe new results in the theories of computer security and in papers and panels that explore open questions and raise fundamental concerns about existing theories. For background information about the workshop, see the CSFW home page.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

access control
database security
security protocols authentication
network security
security models data and system integrity
distributed systems security
formal methods for security

as well as foundational issues relating to other critical system properties and in emerging areas such as mobile computing and executable content.

The proceedings are published by the IEEE Computer Society and will be available at the workshop. Selected papers will be invited for submission to the Journal of Computer Security

Instructions for Participants

Workshop attendance will be by invitation only and limited to about 35 participants. Prospective participants should send an ELECTRONIC copy of a paper (limit 7500 words) or proposal for panel discussion to Simon Foley at snf22@ccsr.cam.ac.uk. Please clearly identify the contact author and provide e-mail addresses and telephone numbers (both voice and fax). (Paper submissions will be accepted if received by the deadline, but electronic submission of postscript is strongly encouraged.)

Notification of acceptance:	March 12, 1998

Workshop Location

In 1998 the workshop will be held at the Ralph Waldo Emerson Inn, in Rockport, Massachusetts. Rockport is a New England town, less than an hour's drive from Boston, that has preserved the architecture and charm of a small fishing village. The Inn is on the seashore in an area called Pigeon Cove. It has thirty-six rooms, each with private bathroom and telephone. The roof patio has a wonderful view, and there is access to a walk along the rocky shore. It is about 1.7 miles north of Bearskin Neck, an artist colony and tourist spot crammed with attractive old shops, cafes, restaurants, and galleries, projecting into Rockport Harbor.
