Utah Trip Pics
Zion
- Here
is shot from the middle of the Angels landing
trail in Zion NP. It was around 2pm. Look at the Zion river and the road
down below, and also see the perspective given by the four peaks. The Zion
National Park shuttle bus had dropped me off on the road at the trailhead.
If you see carefully, you can see the trail as well.
- A second
shot from the same trail. The film developer has clearly overexposed this
one, but still it looks quite OK. The trail was dark as sunlight wasn't
penetrating through and the rock was bright yellow. I had wanted a person
to be on the far end of the trail, but ...
- First shot
from the top of Angels landing looking east---the road, the river, the parking lot, and
the shadow of the mountain on which I was sitting with a Cadbury's fruit and nut.
- A second shot
from the same place to complete the view looking north east. The road ends farther
down this end at the Zion Narrows trailhead!
- Facing west
this photograph shows the narrow ridge on which the trail (that leads to where I
am standing) is! The trail goes down from somewhere in the dark gorge to the left.
- Facing east
I took one last picture before I started my descent.
- The Angels Landing Rock
with three rock climbers clinged onto it. I took this lying down precariously on the
narrow ridge....a person who saw me taking this pic thought the rock climbers were my
friends/relatives.
- While still lying down
I thought I'll take one more shot, the rock with the climbers is all dark on the right,
with the valley below. I doubt that the climbers made it to the top that day itself. They
must have camped on the face that night?
Next Day---Bryce + Kodachrome + Giant Staircase
- A quintessential
Bryce Canyon NP picture, it was morning and I was on my way to highway 12.
Couldn't resist the temptation of going to Bryce for a little while.
- Eagle's view
trail on Kodachrome state park, from the top this is looking the other way (away
from Kodachrome). Quite a deserted park this was.
- Correct side
of Kodachrome SP reveals the two spires and the road that leads to the park.
Subsequently, I continued my short trail to the top of the mountain you see
on the right.
- A pic
from the top of the trail ... see the colored Bryce-like formations on the distant
mountain.
- Another pic
from the top of the trail ... just to show you the landscape.
- Yet Another pic
from the top of the trail ... spot some civilization below.
- Enough of
the top, I decided to head back, and on the way I took this shot of the mountain and
the trail which I had used to get here.
- Just before
I got down completely, I got this view of the kodachrome park. I am standing on the
face of the hill you saw in the last pic.
- Here
is the mountain looking upwards...why did I take this pic, I don't know.
- Kodachrome
from ground zero... now I am almost back to the parking lot.

Same Day---Capital Reef
Next Day---Arches National Park
