Instructions for Preparing and Submitting Final Camera-Ready Papers to DCCA-7

The requirements are essentially the same as for the initial submissions.

Important Dates

Length and Format

Papers must not exceed 20 pages in the format specified below. However, authors are strongly encouraged to keep their papers below 18 pages (this will reduce the cost of the proceedings).

Papers should be formatted according to the specifications for a book of collected papers published by IEEE Computer Society Press. Your paper should look like this example (dvi version, postscript version), which also provides the specifications.

These specifications, together with LaTeX and MS Word templates are are available by anonymous FTP from ftp://ftp.computer.org/pub/outgoing/cspress/books. You can either click on this link or ftp by hand (instructions below if you need them).

Instructions for obtaining templates by FTP

LaTeX Notes

MS Word Notes

Several people submitted papers prepared using Microsoft Word that were barely legible. The problem seems to be in the postscript driver--many of these appear to be of low quality, others assume a Mac or Windows environment or nonstandard fonts. Your postscript file must be capable of printing on a bare postscript printer. If you are not sure of the quality of your driver, test the output with the pscheck program. Alternatively, use Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format--these drivers are reliable.

Submission Procedures

Your paper must be submitted electronically as a self-contained postscript or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file. Please follow these steps:
  1. Create a self-contained postscript or acrobat file for your paper. Check that it can be processed satisfactorily by standard viewers (Ghostview, Acrobat Reader) and printers (Ghostscript, generic postscript printers).
  2. Optionally compress postscript files with either Unix Compress, GNU gzip, or DOS/Windows ZIP. Acrobat files are already compressed.
  3. If your paper is in acrobat format, or if your postscript file is compressed, then use UUencode or mime-encapsulation so that the binary file will get through the mail ok. You are encouraged to practice by mailing the file to yourself to check that it can be received and processed correctly.
  4. Fill in and submit the DCCA electronic submission form (this will be used to provide information on the web site)
  5. Email the file containing your paper to Rushby@csl.sri.com in a message with "DCCA7 paper" as the subject.
  6. Print out a copy of the IEEE Copyright form (which can obtained in postscript, MSWord, or ascii formats from the IEEE ftp site mentioned above, or use this local gzipped postscript copy), fill it in, sign it, and fax it to John Rushby at +1 650 859-2844 (alternatively, mail it to the address below). Do not send it to IEEE.
You will receive an acknowledgment when we have checked that your file can be viewed and printed ok.
